NAME: LAB WORKSHEET: CHAPTER 16 PERIOD: Part One: Start with two pieces of Scotch tape, each about 2 inches long. Tape the sticky side of one to the non-sticky side of the other, but make sure they are at an angle to each other (so you can peel them apart). The piece whose sticky side is touching the other piece of tape is Tape A; the other one is tape B. Quickly pull them apart, and hold them from one end so they hang down. 1) Bring A close to B, but make sure they don’t touch. What happens? 2) What happens as you bring A closer to B? 3) Find a neighbor, and bring your A closer to his or hers. What happens as you bring them closer together? 4) Now bring your B closer to his or hers. What happens? 5) Experiment with how you pull A and B apart. How can you magnify the behavior you saw before? Part Two: Keep your two pieces of tape, but now add an inflated balloon and a very small piece of paper. Rub the balloon against a cotton T-shirt. 7)
