PHYSICS HONORS LAB WORKSHEET: CHAPTER 17 Part One: Materials: two 2-inch pieces of Scotch tape 1) Tape the sticky side of one piece of tape to the non-sticky side of the other, but make sure they are at an angle to each other (so you can peel them apart). 2) Use a pencil to label the piece whose sticky side is touching the other piece of tape is Tape A; the other one is tape B. 3) Quickly pull the pieces of tape apart, and hold them from one end so they hang down. 4) Holding piece A in place, move piece B closer to piece A. Observe what happens. 5) Holding piece B in place, move piece A closer to piece B. Observe what happens. 6) Find a neighbor, and bring your piece A closer to his or her piece A. Observe what happens. 7) Find a neighbor, and bring your piece B closer to his or her piece B. Observe what happens. 8) Experiment with how you pull A and B apart, and try to magnify the behavior you saw before. Note what you try and the results that ensue. Part Two: Part One: Materials: two 2-inch pieces of Scotch tape inflated balloon small piece of paper Keep your two pieces of tape, but now add an inflated balloon and a very small piece of paper. Rub the balloon against a cotton T-shirt.
