Predicting Molecular Shapes of Electron-Dot  Structures: VESPR Model Approximate shape of electron dot structure is given  by the Valence-Shell Electron Pair Repulsion  (VESPR) Model Step 1:  Draw Lewis Structure Step 2:  Count the total electron “charge clouds”  surrounding central atom Charge cloud:  group of electrons either in a bond  or a lone pair Step 3:  Predict the arrangement of electron “charge  clouds” by positioning them to maximize separation
