Course Technology - Cengage Learning, 2010, ISBN-13: 9781423902454 SUPPLIES: Each student must have a notebook and mass storage device (Thumb drive recommended). COURSE PREREQUISITE: None COURSE ADVISORY: Eligibility for ENGL 099, READ 099, and MATH 102 COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course provides an introduction to, and overview of local area networks (LANS) and telecommunications, with an emphasis on terminology, hardware, and software. Different network topologies, and network operating and management systems are compared and evaluated for a variety of applications. Telecommunications components are analyzed in terms of enhancing systems integration to achieve organizational goals and to solve business problems. Students will complete a networking project to be presented the last day of class. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
