Data Warehouses and Data Mining 2 Data Warehouses collects a set of information accumulated from different functioning databases used to create company intelligence that maintains business analysis activities and decision making duties. Data mining tools are used to verify information in a data warehouse. The two are useful components in the business industry or office setting, but the needs of the business has to drive the technology decisions. If this is not something needed in the business then the tool will be useless. Most databases support transaction processes but the data warehouses are used to support decisions made in the business. This means that the warehouse sustains online analytical processing. Fore instance the warehouse can hold information such as total year sales but does not provide consumer information individually. Data mining tools can predict future trends and behaviors of customer and which ones are likely
