Androgyny 2 According to the readings androgyny deals with having both male and female characteristics a psychological form of androgyny and the other aspect is that the individual is born with both male and female parts, which is the physical form. For instance a man can be feminine and a woman can be masculine. This is where androgyny can be looked at or seen as negative. In our society a man is supposed to be masculine and women should be feminine so when the public sees a gender acting opposite of what he she is seen as being this can cause negative reactions. For instance this musician named David Bowie one day he is dressed as a guy and you would not have to question his gender then another day he is performing in women’s clothing. Some individuals can do this and get androgyny is accepted, where as others are not and this is where the negative effects of androgyny arise. Harmful effects to the androgynous individuals are
