Refer to the handout on DIMENSIONS AND PROPERTIES of structural shapes. THESE PROBLEMS DO NOT REQUIRE THE DETAILED GEOMETRIC CALCULATION THAT YOU DID LAST WEEK. 1. In the AISC standard sections EXCEL spreadsheet, find the listing for a L 4 x 3.5 x 6.2 (lb/ft) angle section. Using the data given in the spreadsheet, your knowledge of invariants, and the definition(s) of moment of inertia, and radius of gyration: a. Determine the location of the centroid of the area relative to the outside corner of the section. (5 points) b. Determine the product of inertia (I xy ) about an x-y set of axes with the centroid as the origin. (10 points)
