ME 326: THERMODYNAMICS I Test 3, April 29, 1996 1) (33%) A 2-stroke ideal air-standard spark-ignition (Otto) engine (c P for air=constant=1.00 kJ/kg•K) has a compression ratio of 8:1, and operates at 2400 rpm. Fuel input to the engine is 5 kJ/revolution. The engine is used to drive an air-conditioner with a COP of 5.0. How much cooling capacity will this system have (kW)? SOLUTION: The Otto cycle efficiency is 2) (33%) The steam turbine in a Rankine power plant with superheat operates with an inlet temperature of 650°C at an inlet pressure of 1 MPa, and exhausts to an exit pressure of 4 kPa. When operating with a steam flow rate of 5 kg/s, the measured power output of the turbine is 5.753 MW. The pump in the cycle is isentropic. a) Fill in the state table below except where dashes appear.
