BB3080 Neurobiology Yin et al., 1995. CREB as a memory modulator: induced expression of a dCREB2 activator isoform enhances long-term memory in Drosophila . Cell 81: 107-115. The first paper we read for class this year was very recent. This CREB paper is one I think of as a classic. So although it is fairly old, I like to assign it, because I think it is a beautiful set of experiments that have profound implications. It’s a great example of how much we can learn from a simple model system (in this case, Drosophila ). We will discuss the paper in class on Monday, Dec. 7. Please read and think about the questions below before class. Also, complete the online test before class, so that I know you have read and thought about the paper. The test simply asks: 1) What did the investigators conclude from the experiments in Fig. 1? 2) What did the investigators conclude from the experiments in Fig. 3? Just a sentence or two for each question is fine; we will discuss the details in class. In class, I will assign you randomly into groups as before.
