To have good, effective written communication requires good awareness by the writer to make sure that they have all included all of the parts of writing, you want to have an appropriate tone, you don’t want to offend anybody, you want to make sure that you have the proper content, that your words and grammar are correct, you also want to make sure that you have a clear purpose, that your purpose is relevant to what you are writing and that it covers your point and doesn’t drag on as to much information and the reader will tend to lose interest, and finally you need to know who your audience is, who your writing for and who is going to read your what your writing, your audience will influence

Unformatted text preview: your tone and content, for example, writing an e-mail to your supervisor would have a more professional tone and content where as an e-mail to your friends or family will be more relaxed. Learning about how to have effective written communication has helped understand more about how I write e-mails to family, friends, and my supervisors, I used to never really think about tone, and content, I always assumed that who ever was reading my e-mail or something that I had written would understand what I had wrote and the point that I was trying to make, this class has really opened my eyes as to how be more effective with my written communication.
