Question 1: What factors account for political empowerment or lack/absence of it for women in Arab/Islamic countries? Women in the Arab/Islamic world have lacked political empowerment for years. This is due to the views of the social norms and their views are considered very conservative. These views tend to portray the man as the head of running the household. The father always has the final say over his daughters of wife. The reason why this is accepted in the Arab countries is because the women believe it is an accordance with Islam. Another factor is not letting these women have political rights because the male counterpart believes in the traditional law. Forming civil society to stop the political empowerment on women because they are so set on what they believe in. Women in the majority of the Arab world lack political empowerment. Causes to blame for this are conservative views of Islam causing harsh laws such as shari’a law and social norms such as the patriarchal societies. These factors are often combines to keep the man as the head
