Jacob Zipperstein 4/13/10 Public Health – 10 Adderall is a drug that is growing in popularity all across college campuses. Whether it is for pleasure or for working, many college students have tried Adderall at least once. The increase in the popularity of Adderall can be attributed to many factors: the increase in the academic workload, the decrease in a student’s energy (needing a stimulant to gain energy), or just used for pleasure. Even though Adderall has some benefits (i.e. makes you more attentive), the negatives that are a result of taking this prescription drug heavily outweigh the positives. For starters, it is easy to get addicted and to depend on this drug. A user of Adderall would not be able to rely solely on its body’s own energy, which in the long run is extremely unhealthy. Taking this drug as a replacement for sleep, or healthy eating, is beneficial in the short run – but greatly harmful in the long run.
