Jacob Zipperstein 1/25/10 What are Dreams to You? Dreaming has always been an ambiguous concept ever since Adam slept through his first night on Earth. Are dreams just a bunch of jumbled, scattered thoughts in our mind, or are they messages trying to tell us something? People have many different perspectives on what a dream is, or what a dream is meant to be. I believe that we can learn an extraordinary amount from our dreams, but only if we listen with a trained ear. In order to correctly analyze a dream, which I feel one should do every time a new dream occurs, we must first understand why we have dreams. The types of dreams we have, whether or not evident, are a direct result of how we emotionally feel. Nightmares, in their unique and unfortunate way, are a specific message to the dreamer that there is an abundant amount of stress in there waking life. Whether it be stress from work, from school, or from loved ones is irrelevant. I argue this because I can most often predict when I am to have a nightmare, and it always comes around the times that I am
