New Student Services Education 98, Sections 27, 28 and 29: CALeads Leadership Philosophy Paper Assignment A key goal of this class is to help you articulate your philosophy on leadership. For this assignment, you will attempt to think about the deeper meanings of leadership and put them into words. Your goal is to develop a paper that compiles your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs on leadership based on your work throughout the semester. Below are some steps to help you in the process of writing your paper. The completed two-page paper is due on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 (Tuesday sections will submit their paper in class; Wednesday section must submit their hard-copy paper to the New Student Services office by 4pm on this date). Introduction: A leadership philosophy is the way we see ourselves as leaders. This philosophy guides our actions, our behaviors, and our thoughts. Our philosophies are influenced by external and internal forces. Leadership philosophies can change as you grow to understand yourself within the context of leading. Start your paper with an introduction to clearly state the purpose of your paper, what aspects of leadership you’ll be discussing, and why those aspects are relevant in discussing your leadership philosophy. Grading: You are now at the point of your Berkeley experience where you should have identified the appropriate resources to support you in writing college-quality papers. As such, 5 of the 15 points for this assignment will be based on writing style, structure, spelling, grammar, etc.
