The objectives of this lab were to find out how photosynthesis works and to see what wavelength of light is most effective for photosynthesis. The hypothesis is that the blue light will make more disks float than the green light and the normal light. The null hypothesis was that the blue light will not make the disks photosynthesize any more than the green or the normal lights. We used hole punchers to cut pieces out of spinach leaves and put them in flasks full of NaHCO 3 then we sucked the air out and covered the lamps up with different color shades. We used the blue and green shades and one normal light. The plants didn’t react to the green shade. They reacted a little better to the blue shade. The plants photosynthesized the best with the normal light. The experimental hypothesis was rejected because the room light photosynthesized better than the blue shade. The experiment was to see what kinds of wavelengths were effective for photosynthesis. The quality of the light wavelength determines the rate of photosynthesis. Out independent
