Ryann Trejo Jingjing Qin English 105 Oct.18,2007 Marijuana: Legal or Illegal? Should marijuana be legal or illegal? Marijuana is an illegal drug that people think should be legal. Marijuana is a gateway drug to other drugs, and that is the main reason why it is not legal. There are pros and cons to this situation, and I agree with both of them. The medical pro is something I agree with, the fact that marijuana is a gateway drug is something I agree with, and that the government can not tax the drug. These are some the reasons why the drug should and should not be legalized. The use of marijuana is being fought today mainly because of medicinal purposes. If patients in hospitals (Cancer Patients) need this drug to help ease the pain, I do not see the problem. “It insures that people who use the drug for medicinal purposes, such as pain control, have access to it.” ( www.usask.ca ) I think that this drug should be legalized for this purpose because the drug has proven to work as a prescription.
