In this experiment computer chassis number 1 was used to monitor the temperatures of the resistors (T juction ), case temperature (T case ), chassis air temperature (T amb ) and the board temperature (T baord ). This experiment was used using the following items: A computer chassis with variable impedance control, two (1) ohm power resistor, one Omega T-type flat self-adhesive thermocouple (# SA1 – T), one Omega K-type beaded thermocouple (# 5TC-TT-K-36-36). A voltmeter and thermometer are used to get voltage and temperatures readings. In this experiment a voltmeter Proskit MT-1230 and a Fluke 51 series II thermometer was used to get the respected readings. Two different fan assembly configurations were used; a parallel configuration and a series configuration, see Figure 1. The fans used in this experiment are Cooler Master SAF-b83 ball bearing fans and a Cooler Master Aerogate II monitoring system was used to monitor the temperatures. Figure 1 : Parallel fan configuration on the right and Series fan configuration on the left. For the experimental procedure data from five different tests are needed. The five tests are as follows: (1) Parallel fan with high impedance, (2) Parallel fan with high impedance, (3) series fan with high impedance, (4) series fan with low impedance and (5) cooling by natural convection (fans off). As the computer set up is turn on, a beeping
