Chinese 1B Elementary Mandarin Instructor: Dr. Fu Tan E-mail address: [email protected] Office location and phone #: CH 410F (924-4595) Office hours: 4:00—5:00 Daily Course description This course teaches basic skills and structures of the Chinese language in the context of the culture. Objectives To develop communicative skills in Chinese, enable the students to read selected essays, write short passages, and understand some important aspects of the Chinese culture. Prerequisite Chinese 1A or equivalent. Textbooks: 1) Chinese Link, by Wu, Yu, Zhang and Tian, Prentice Hall, 2006. 2) Exercise Book for Chinese Link. Requirements: 1) Turn in weekly homework assignment on time for full credit 2) Regular attendance (No make-up tests).
