1.  As a member of the Academic Research Committee at Santa Clara University, I am currently  searching for an ethnobiologist to conduct research.  The position is through the University  however the research will be located in Peru, specifically the Amazon Rain Forest.  You must  have academic training in any of the following areas; science, biology, or cultural studies.  The  type of research you will be conducting will specifically target the shaman’s and their use of  medicinal plants.  While living with the shamans and the tribes in the Amazon, I expect you to  understand the cultural differences in and be able to immerse yourself in their culture.  You must  have some experience with other cultures and know the different species of plants you will be  working with.  At this point in your career, I also expect you to know the ceremonial practices  you may need to participate in as well as the ability to connect with the shamans and build trust.  Even though you are conducting research, the shamans will need to trust you before they share  every aspect of their cultural practices with you.  You must have taught some related courses  during your academic training.  The types of courses you are expected to have taught include  any of the following; biota, shamanism, or nature and world culture.   2.  Endangered species are defined as a population of an organism that is at risk of becoming  extinct.  The reasons for extinction may include; few in numbers, threatened by a changing  environment, or threatened by predation parameters.  Endangered cultures are defined as a  group of people who have connected and lived off of certain plants or animals and are in danger  of losing certain traditions.  In either case when a culture or a species is no longer, it will  eventually become extinct.  An example of a culture connected to a species would be from the
