a BUS 173C Steven Bennet Zipcar Business Model The Zipcar business model is fairly typical other existing car rental as far as organization and operations; nevertheless, the company provides a twist in technology in order to gain a competitive advantage. Robin Chase, CEO and cofounder of the company, envisioned her business model based off a similar European car rental business. Chase and her partner and cofounder, Antje Danielson, conducted some initial research during late 1999, and by the end of that year, the two had developed a business model. The idea behind her plan to revolutionize the car rental industry by providing major cities with fast and easy access to car rentals without having a lot of time spent on negotiations and contracts. Chase’s friend, Danielson, was struck with her vision upon visiting Berlin in September 1999, and so she returned to the states with an idea for a start-up.
