1. IPod Economy With the tremendous success of the iPod, Apple Computers Inc, as a company was back in business, generating tremendous revenues for the company. The iPod opened up the avenue for hundreds of iPod accessories, and Apple’s other related successful ventures of the iTunes music store and Apple iPhone. Apple and all the companies linked to iPod accessories created an iPod economy in billions of dollars. 2. IT role in Business : IT(Information Technology) is the technology that is used when managing and processing any information. Today, IT is used in almost all businesses and the success of IT is when this function is managed effectively, and by the right people. Many companies prefer to outsource this function versus having it in house. IT is what links the main functions of an Organization such as HR, Finance, Production, etc. Information technology manages and processes information, whereas information system is a business function that transforms data into useful information. Data are facts that are fed into an information system. Information is the meaningful output from an information system after it has processed the data. Business intelligence technology is used to gather and analyze information for managerial decision making in a company. Roles and Responsibilities of various officers of a company: A. CIO(Chief Information Officer)- Oversee IT, and ensure goals and objectives are being met.
