Rebuttals The rebuttals are the point in the debate round where murky water should become crystal clear. All issues need to be clearly addressed. The ultimate goal of any round is for the judge to write the explanation the teams gave in their rebuttals as his or her reason for the decision.

1st Negative Rebuttal (1NR) This speech is still part of the negative block. As such, the goal of this speech is still make the first affirmative rebuttal (1AR) as difficult as possible.
