Motechuzoma sends diplomats to Cortés in Vera Cruz. (April-May 1519) 2. Motechuzoma meets Cortés for the first time. (November 1519) 3. The Mexica celebrate a feast under the guard of Pedro de Alvarado, while Cortés is in Vera Cruz defeating Narváez. (May 1520) 4. Alvarado kills the Mexica at the feast. (May 1520) 5. The Mexica rise in revolt. (May-June 1520) 6. Motecuhzoma dies. (June 1520) 7. Cortés and the Spanish-indigenous army retreat from Tenochtitlan in Noche Triste. (June 1520) 8. Plague hits Tenochtitlan hard. (Summer 1520) 9. After Cortés brings the second attack, a group of his men are captured. (June 1521)
