149 SCHILTZ CAST JEWELRY / SCULPTURE 3:30 - 6:20 MW Office hours--Monday & Wednesday 10:30 - 11:30 am Room 219 Phone 924 4390 1. Prerequisites --ART 147 or equivalent 2. Course Content --Three to four projects will be assigned during the semester to teach the basic methods and techniques of metal casting. These projects are intended to provide a foundation for jewelry and sculpture, utilizing the cast metal process. The areas covered will include; √ pattern making √ gating √ investment √ pattern elimination √ casting √ finishing techniques √ patination 3. Objectives --I intend with this course to allow the student to explore personal creativity within a particular area of metalwork. Creativity and technical growth will be developed through direct dialogue between instructor and student. 4. Grading --The course grade will be determined by a combination of criteria; A. 75% will be derived from assigned projects. Important factors are freshness of concept, quality of design and craftsmanship. B.
