Since there are extreme values in both data sets, the median would be a better measure of central tendency than the mean, since the mean averages all data points while the median is/are those data points that divide the distribution in half. In terms of the standard deviation, the spread of X 2 values are much larger than the spread of X 1, this is largely due to outliers (X 1 =232.6; X 2 =1381).
