The Brief History of the Dead —Questions Please have the whole book finished when we first begin the discussion. The unfolding mystery is a significant part of the pleasure this book offers, and I don’t want to have our discussion hampered by fears of spoiling it. Choose TWO of the questions from among the first half (1-4) to answer and submit for the first day (Thurs 3/18), and two from the second half for the next day (Tues 3/22). 1. Does this vision of the afterlife challenge Christian (and other) religious doctrine, or is it compatible? Do you think the writer was putting it forward as a real possibility, or is it more a metaphor for some aspect of regular (pre-death) experience such as memory, love, faith, or ways of dealing with alternative possibilities for the future, whether individual or collective?
