One of the defined and used data sets across the US healthcare industry was the Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS), implemented in the mid-1970s. Created by the National Center for Health Services University (NCHS) , UHDDS collects uniform data elements from the health records of every hospital inpatient. The main data elements in the UHDDS data sets are: a patients personal identification number, date of birth, sex, race and ethnicity, residence (address), patients hospital identification number, admission date, type of admission, discharge date, physician identification ( attending physician/operating physician), principal diagnosis, other diagnosis, qualifier for other diagnosis, external cause of injury code, birth weight of a newborn,
