EPILOGUE AND FINAL THOUGHTS Specificity = success; examples: 1. Progressive Muscular Relaxation (PMR) Notice exactly which muscles are tense. Use the different levels of contraction (100%, 50%, 5%) to notice exactly how tense each muscle is, so that you can target which muscles to focus on. The more you relax, the more performance improves (Dodgeball). 2. Creative problem-solving (coping strategy) and creative imagery/visualization (relaxation technique) When working things out for yourself, use as much detail as you can. The more specifically you can visualize and/or plan, the more successful you'll be. Creative problem solving, time management/planning, etc. Creative imagery/visualization Operationalize "approach" vs. "avoidance" How? Whose life are you living? Are you living your life through another person (like Dawn Staples) or living your own life? Communication styles in men and women
