SOCI 160 SPRING2010 Exam 1 Study Guide Format I am not exactly sure what Exam 1 will look like. It will for sure have several (between 5 and 6) short answer/essay questions worth between 10 and 15 points. It might also have 5-10 multiple choice questions. Material Below is some material for you to consider as you study for the next exam. Note that this list is not meant to be exhaustive nor does inclusion on the list mean that a concept or term will be on the exam. Lecture 2 Be familiar with each of the immigrant types. Be familiar with each of the waves of immigration. Lecture 3 Be familiar with the following terms immigrant, refugee, asylee, foreign born population, native born population, migrant, emigrant What are the three preference/priority categories of the US Immigration program? Be familiar with the different family and employment preference groups. How many immigrants were admitted into the USA in 2007? Be familiar with the immigrant levels presented in class (2003).
