SOCI 104 2010 Exam 1 Study Guide Important Notes This exam will cover lectures 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7. SOCI 104 Sec.1 (the morning class) exam is on Mar. 23 SOCI 104 Sec.2 (the evening class) exam is on Mar. 25 Format The exam will probably consist of 10-15 multiple choice questions worth two points each and 2-3 short answer questions worth 10 points each. Material Below are some terms and concepts that you might want to know in order to be successful on the exam. Note that this list is not meant to be exhaustive nor does inclusion on the list insure that a concept or term will be on the exam. Lecture 1 What is Sociology Be familiar with the following terms: sociology, sociological imagination, Be familiar with Postivism and the Enlightenment. Lecture 2 Human Inquiry and Science Be familiar with the following terms: theory, variables, attributes, independent variables, dependent variables idiographic research, nomothetic research, inductive and deductive theory, qualitative and quantitative research, pure and applied research
