Categories of Convection In convection, heat flow is caused by a combination of conduction and fluid motion (advection) Forced or Free Convection Forced: flow caused by pump, fan, wind, etc. Free (natural): motion caused by buoyancy (hot air rises) Internal or External Flow Internal: inside pipes or other enclosures External: flow around the outside of a surface What are some products that rely on convection?
