Exporting Maize 2 Exporting Maize One of the most influential crops of Mexican culture is maize also known as corn. The Mayans and Aztecs cultivated the crop and is used all throughout Mexican cuisine. Mexicans use corn to make a dough called masa and this is used in their traditional dishes such as tamales and tortillas. Corn is a big part of Mexican culture however their corn imports come primarily from the United States. China is in trade agreements with the United States and corn exports are expected to shift overseas so there is an opportunity to enter the Mexican market to fulfill their corn demand.
