10/16/2008 Bus 186 Case 1.1 Questions #7 Should dumping be an acceptable act for companies to do as long as it is legal? Is it ok to some extend? When it comes to health issue of any human being, is it wrong? With out dumping, all the products made in different countries will be wasted. Many resources of the world as a whole will be lost, which in long run could harm our economy. So if the demand is there why not give them the supply, and even better, at a low price of 10 – 15% of the original price. If the companies do not sell the goods at a cheap price, the third world countries might not have any other source to get the products. People that believe in Utilitarianism would argue that if there is more benefit than harm, it will be ok to do the act. In extreme, utilitarians believe that it is ok for few people to die if the overall out come is good. Another moral theory such as egoism would argue that dumping is right act to do morally, in the perspective of the company dumping the products. But different from the believers of utilitarianism, believers of egoism would say
