1Jay Jackl English 105.392/19/2020Insight into my Journey As a child, I hated school, and the older I got, the more I realized that my educationalupbringing was different than my peers. I mainly attended private Christan schools and onlyattended public school for one year in my entire life. Growing up, I always wanted to be my ownboss and do things my own way. I noticed that many of my family members owned businesses orworked for companies involving some form of sales. The biggest hurdle I had as a student wasthat I was not the best student. I struggled to get decent grades and I didn’t have any motivationor work ethic. One of my high school assignments required that I shadow a family member to seea day in the life of their job, and that assignment truly changed my life. I decided to shadow mygrandmother, who was a life insurance agent. During that experience, I was able to witness mygrandmother’s disciplined work ethic, her drive, and her commitment to her job. I realized thatthere were two sides in my family: one side was jobless and struggling financially, while theother side was motivated and successful. At that moment, I wanted to be different from thejobless struggling side of my family and be a bridge to the gap. I wanted to show futuregenerations that although you may have struggles, you can always turn it around and becomesuccessful. As I continued in high school, I worked harder to succeed, whether that was endlesshours in studying, getting a tutor, or even disconnecting ties with friends who were not a goodinfluence. I was determined to get into a four-year college and I made it my goal. Finally, when I
2sat down to apply, I felt a sense of happiness, knowing I was able to really change my life.During the application process, I had to decide what major I wanted to apply for. After months ofcontemplating what major I wanted to pursue, I decided on a business degree. I chose a business
