Bus 173C Prof. Steven Bennet Feb. 23, 2009 Gordon Biersch Case From the first restaurant in Palo Alto, opened in 1988, Gordon Biersch had a principle of serving good food and fresh brewed beer in lively surroundings. They had live music time to time to entertain the guests and all the great germen beer that you could handle. This was all happening back when other microbrewery/restaurants were serving beer at a calmer and quiet environment. To the customers, dinning experience at Gordon Biersch was fun and unique. This is one of the key factors that got people going back to Gordon Biersch for more. Another key factor that leads Gordon Biersch to success is good quality food and fresh beer at a low to moderate price. Gordon Biersch kept their entrees priced around $10 - $15 per plate. They believe that the first time experience is what allows people to come back for more or go some where else. So they made sure that every guest has same great food, fresh beer, and great service every time. Last key factor that leads Gordon Biersch to success is branding. Not like other microbrewery/restaurant, which sold their own beer and the beers of out side venders, Gordon Biersch only sold their own brewed beers. Since there was no other restaurants or other retailers that carried Gordon Biersch beer at the time, selling only Gordon Biersch’s own brewed beer created a brand of its own. People were returning for that great tasting fresh brewed beer that could be only found at Gordon Biersch. Therefore the key factors that lead Gordon Biersch to success are uniqueness, price, quality, and branding.
