Economic models are useful when everything  agreed upon only thing flux is amount /allocation  of resources; today cultural, sociological, and  spiritual problems; Doctors- status has been reduced, called  “providers” lumped together w/nurses, secretaries,  maintenance people, and volunteers working at  gift shops;  Young physicians joking call  themselves “proles”

Live with fear being removed from HMO panel (ie.  de-selection). Doctors get MBAs prepare high  management levels of HMOs; Shifts replace  staying up all night; patients passed from one  doctor to another through the night; Increased  mortality due to mis-communication;   Basing income on technical procedures(ie.  specialties), easily replaced by nurses, others  w/out advanced medical education;
