I believe that looking at test scores such as the ACT and SAT are ridiculous ways of trying to judge how well someone is going to perform in college. These tests only look at how well you can recite what you have been taught; and what you have been taught does not really matter in college because you will either be re-taught basic things (i.e. math and writing) or you will learn completely new skills depending on what classes are being taken and the professors that teach them. These tests have nothing to do

Unformatted text preview: with practical skills, which is why I think that Sternbergs idea is a brilliant one. I know many people who can easily remember things they have been taught and therefore are able to score high on tests; but they have no common sense or any practical abilities. I think that if Sternbergs ideas were added to the SAT and ACT we would have a much more rounded test, far more capable of predicting how well students would do in college, and in life.
