Sample Data – Using Calcium Reaction: Ca + 2 HCl Æ CaCl 2 + H 2 Data: Mass of Ca = 0.7800 g Volume of 1.0 M HCl = 50.0 mL T initial of HCl = 19.4 °C T final = 37.4 °C Calculations 1 . Moles of Ca:(0.7800 g)(1 mol/40.08g)=0.01946 moles of Ca 2. Moles of HCl:(1.0 moles/L)(0.050 L) = 0.050 moles of HCl 3. Since the Ca is used up, it’s the limiting reactant. T = 37.4 °C - 19.4 °C = 20.0 °C
