DETROIT - Toyota's U.S. sales surged 41% in March compared with a dismal March last year, topping strong results from other automakers. As automakers reported sales Thursday, Toyota Motor said it sold 186,873 cars and trucks in March, up from 132,802 a year earlier. The gains follow a disappointing February, when sales fell 9% due to safety-related recalls of millions of vehicles. While revamped models helped the auto companies, it's also likely that incentives brought out more buyers for all automakers.
