Course Description: a. The Senior Seminar is designed to help you integrate and make use of what you have learned in other courses in Humanities, Religious Studies, and so forth. As a SEMINAR, it works best when everyone comes to class with views and opinions that are informed by, among other things, required readings. The topic for the seminar— Religion in China Today—has been chosen to allow satisfaction of a wide range of student interests in religions, East Asia, and other related issues. b. Required texts: Religions in China Today , ed. Daniel Overmyer and Richard Edmonds (Spartan Bookstore) Chinese Religions in Contemporary Societies , ed. James Miller (King Library reserve book or e-Book??) History of China by David C. Wright (King Library e-Book) Readings in Eastern Religions, ed. Coward, Neufeldt, and Neumaier (King Library e- Book) c. Other Reading materials: Some additional readings may be posted on my faculty website, http://www.sjsu.edu/people/christian.jochim/ , or distributed in class. d.
