Sept. 24, 2009 Topic Proposal Geog 112 Topic #1 Will the unification of South and North Korea become an advantage to the Korea and the world? Response Ever since the Korean War in 1950s, Korea has been separated in to two. They have been living in separate lives with different culture, ideology, and government. To unify the South and North Korea now, after almost 60 years of separation, will be same as uniting two different countries together. Conflicts in rebuilding the nation as a whole, who will be in control, and relationships with the world would be at question. Also with all the costs involved in rebuilding the nation as one, Korea’s economy will be harmed during the process. Opposing position If Korea unite and form one country, Korea could become one of the most powerful nations in the world. With South Korea’s growing economy and good relationship with the world and North Korea’s abundant unused natural resources and nuclear technology, Korea will be at a great advantage. Families separated due to the war will be found and united. And
