Sept. 8, 2009 Peter Katel, “U.S. Policy on Iran” Geog 112 Thesis To insure the safety of people from terrorist attacks, United States need to strengthen the foreign policy on Iran. Response After the dictator of Iraq, Saddam Husain, was captured the tension between United States and Iraq decreased and the Iraq as a threat has almost disappeared. Now that Husain is captured and brought to justice, the focus of United States has shifted to the neighboring countries such as Iran. According to Energy Information Administration, Iran has the 3 rd largest Oil reserves and 2 nd largest Natural Gas reserves. In this day and age, countries with large amount of scarce natural resources such as gas and oil will be able to gain power and money. Yet due to greed and corruption, Iran has a faltering economy and about 11 percent unemployment rate. Therefore Iran is one of the Countries that United States and other high powered nations to watch out for. One of the issues that are causing all the tension is, Iran wanting to have a nuclear
