Liem Tran AMS1B – Ormsbee March 18, 2010 CA Government Assignment Keeping Doors Open? The current budget issue regarding the funding of higher public education in the state of California has been greatly impacting the schools and the funding that the school has been receiving. The rally held on March 4, 2010 at San Jose State University was one showing how the budget cut in the state has impacted the students at the university. The current proposal from Governor Schwarzenegger is to help funding for K-12 education so as to help the lowest performing schools, make substantial gains in student achievement, close achievement gaps, and to ensure student preparation for success in college (California). The Governor’s budget for proposal is still not what people expect. As quoted in an article regarding the K-12 budget, K-12 education is being hit harder by the budget cuts than the universities (Quach). Although K-12 education is getting hit harder, public education in the state is getting hit and effecting everyone.
