1/29/05 Comm20 Clint Pardoe Growth Paper This is the first time I am taking a course relating to public speaking. I rarely had experience with public speaking prior to this class. I can only relate public speaking to a task I had in my AP Government course in my senior year in high school, near a year ago. Our task for that class was also purposely designed to deliver an organized speech on topics of significance, where as students we simulated the role of state legislators and presented to our classmates speeches with our side of a bill, meanwhile the students listening played their own role. We took turns delivering speeches on our position, and after the speeches were delivered, we designated a vote for the passing of these bills. The disadvantage of relating it to the course content for Comm20 is that the education focus was the bills themselves rather than delivering the speech. Furthermore, I have not been in situations beyond the classroom where I experienced various types of public speaking. On a scale from1-10 (1=no fear, 10=scared out of my mind), I would rate myself
