SJSU Math 12 Sections 1 and 2 1Problem-of-the-Month (POM) Gallery Walks Brief Summary: This assignment requires you to work in groups on three different sets of non-routine mathematics problems. On “gallery walk” days, your group will create and display a poster of your group’s current status on the highest level problem on which your group worked. You will walk around the room to see how other groups have approached the same set of problems. Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to help you become a strong problem solver and to analyze your own thinking processes as you work through progressively more complex and abstract problems. My hope is that this experience will help you become sufficiently confident in your own abilities to solve problems that you will be able to encourage and teach your own students to be strong problem solvers. Related Learning Outcomes: (1) use mathematical methods to solve quantitative problems, including those presented in verbal form (2) use mathematics to solve real life problems
