We will study important aspects of writing such as unity, cohesion, paraphrasing, summarizing and quoting. We will practice a variety of writing styles such as journals and timed writing. In addition, we will explore different types of academic essays as well as tips for responding to essay exams. Books and Materials: Writing Workshop: Promoting College Success by Blanton and Lee English Only Dictionary (preferred: Longman Advanced American Dictionary with CD ROM) Course Requirements THIS IS A WRITING INTENSIVE COURSE. A draft of each paper will be presented for review, in-class writing/editing sessions will be provided, and you will have the opportunity to revise your work before a final grade is given.
