HIST 100W DON Second Paper Instructions The Fall of Tenochtitlan, 1519-21 The goal of this paper is continue to work the key historical skill of interpretation, only this time with more complex sources: Hernán Cortés’s first three letters to the king of Spain, an excerpt from the Florentine Codex about the fall of Tenochtitlan according to indigenous sources, and the fall from the perspective of another conquistador, Bernal Díaz del Castillo in an excerpt from his True History of the Conquest of New Spain. Your goal will be to develop a thesis in response to a historical question of your own construction. We will work on some pos- sible questions in class. You must use at least two of the three primary sources. Students who use all three will receive a bit more credit in grading. You will need ten secondary sources for this paper of which only three may be internet sources. Remember, about 60-70% of the citation should come from the primary sources.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
