Nov. 05, 2009 “The New Latin America” Roland Flamini Geog 112 Thesis Is the future of the Latin America going to become more moderate, market oriented democratic nation or more radical, left wing populism, led by Hugo Chavez? Response Latin America is made up of many different countries of South America region that was in the past in the control of Spanish, Portugal, and French. After these nations became independent from the Spanish, Portugal, and French, the Latin America was in a constant war over territory. Inevitably, the nations were in control of military dictators that pursue to take control of the neighboring nations. Now, that the fight is over and the nations struggling to gain power economically and mark their presence on the map, different kind of battle over power rages on throughout the nations of Latin America. Though the Latin American countries are growing steadily, riches are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. The gap between the rich and the poor is widening. The main reason is because as an old saying “you need money to get rich.” For the people that have money, there are unlimited opportunities to grow. This is because Latin America is a developing nation. So if you have the money to invest there are still countless opportunities to make money. But if you are poor, changes and growth in the nation only bring inflation to the poor, making the cost of goods to rise. The free trade agreement between Latin America, United States, and Canada is good news for the
