The strategic plan was to emphasize bold design, better product quality, and higher productivity by sharing designs and parts between the two companies. 2. In retrospect, Daimler-Benz’s plans for Chrysler seemed optimistic. What decision- making errors might Daimler-Benz have made in its evaluation of Chrysler? How might those errors have been avoided? For one, Daimler-Benz should reevaluate the Chrysler company because Chrysler is in a mass market class of its own in the automobile industry; meanwhile, Benz was known for high-end luxury vehicles. Secondly, it was wrong to assume that the two companies can share parts and designs because ultimately it is the parts and design which differentiate the car manufacturers. The errors may have been avoided if Daimler-Benz had engaged in more research and development, as well as testing prototypes of their merger vehicle. 3.
