The healthcare system is one that is driven by patient wants and thus can be termed as a
consumer-driven healthcare industry. The Affordable Care Act through the healthcare insurance
cover has favoured the consumer freedom for healthcare services thereby increasing
transparency in the healthcare system. Through research and education, consumers can evaluate
the best health insurance policies to purchase before purchasing. Patients need value for their
money. As a result, they will demand transparency in healthcare pricing. Also, access to
information by the consumer shall also favour transparency in pricing as the consumer will be
able to compare the various pricing policies among the healthcare providers (Robert Woods,
2016). Therefore, I believe that consumers will begin demanding transparency in healthcare
pricing.
